I’m honored to serve as President of NAWIC Tampa Chapter #36, and I couldn’t be more excited about the year ahead. Leading this incredible group of women and industry allies is both a privilege and a responsibility I take to heart. My vision for this chapter is rooted in connection, visibility, and impact — creating more opportunities for women in construction, expanding our youth STEM outreach, and strengthening the partnerships that help our industry thrive.

Professionally, I bring over a decade of experience in Human Resources and Talent Acquisition, with a background that spans corporate, regional, and high-volume recruiting environments. I’ve led recruitment for multi-location teams, supported onboarding and compliance efforts, and managed employee relations and workforce programs. My career includes leadership roles with 84 Lumber, Kelly Services, and Express Employment Professionals, where I’ve built pipelines, improved processes, and supported both people and performance.

I’m SHRM-CP certified and hold a Human Resources Management Certificate from Polk State Corporate College. I’m passionate about building inclusive workplaces, mentoring the next generation, and using my voice to advocate for women in construction. Whether I’m coordinating a hiring event or planning a Block Kids competition, I believe in leading with purpose, collaboration, and heart.

Aktion Associates is a national ERP Software reseller of accounting and IT Infrastructure provider focused on teh Architectural, Engineering, Construction, Distribution and Manufacturing and Real Estate industries.  Since 1979 more than 6500 customers have chosen Aktion as their technology advisor.  With a workforce of more than 200 professionals in application consulting, network and software engineering, these teams utilize proprietary lean implementation processes to help customers realized the value of their IT investment.

I started in the construction industry a few decades ago, formerly. In formerly I was holding the end of the measuring tape for my architect father before kindergarten. I started in the office, Reception, Bookkeeping, then Project Assistant. Finally, the opportunity I had been waiting for had arrived and I was transferred to Site Superintendent, a position I had longed for that suited my personality and general strengths. We specialized in Medical Office Buildings, Radiology and Radiation Therapy centers. I switched to residential construction as the pay was greater and the opportunity for bonuses was something I hadn't even previously dreamt of. After going through the extensive training program of a major production home builder, I worked hard and credit their computer program set up for helping me become one of the top 10 Construction Managers in the Tampa Market of the company. I enjoyed great success, unfortunately the housing market fell out and I was without a job after a few years. I spent some years at a major financial institution but hated the cubicle life and longed to get back to construction. Some Site Superintendent work came up with a National low-income housing provider and I was happy again. The opportunity came up to move into semi-custom luxury homes and I jumped at the opportunity to build big, beautiful homes for a local builder who had a design aesthetic that I hadn't ever seen in Florida. I enjoyed my time with that builder but went back to low-income housing as the luxury builder was slowing down. Another opportunity arose and I worked in rental remodels. Another opportunity came up when I was looking through social media to a post from a local commercial construction company who wrote "We love Women in Construction"! I asked for an interview and told them that I was a woman in construction! I have been with CSI since then as a Site Superintendent and have truly enjoyed my experience with this company and feel very appreciated for the work I do. I continue to enjoy teaching construction to others as I did when I had worked for the low-income home provider. I participate in the Great American Teach-in in the local schools as well a summer construction camps for girls and will always want to share my love for the industry with other females, so they feel welcome and impowered in this great industry. I am also the 2023-2025 President of the Tampa Chapter of NAWIC, the National Association of Women In Construction.

Professional Development & Education Committee

The Professional Development and Education Committee of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) is dedicated to empowering women in the construction industry through education, training, and mentorship. This committee focuses on developing programs and resources that enhance professional growth, provide industry insights, and foster skills advancement. By hosting workshops, seminars, and networking events, the committee aims to create a supportive environment that facilitates continuous learning and career progression for women in construction, ensuring they have the tools needed to succeed and lead in their fields.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) is dedicated to growing and engaging the organization's membership base. This committee focuses on attracting new members, promoting the benefits of NAWIC membership, and fostering a sense of community among current members. Through strategic outreach initiatives, member retention programs, and networking opportunities, the committee works to build a strong, supportive network of women in construction who can share experiences, resources, and professional development opportunities.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) plays a crucial role in overseeing the organization's financial health and sustainability. This committee is responsible for budgeting, financial planning, and monitoring expenditures to ensure that resources are allocated effectively to support NAWIC's mission and initiatives. By developing financial strategies and providing fiscal oversight, the committee aims to enhance transparency and accountability within the organization. 

PR & Marketing Committee 

The Public Relations and Marketing Committee plays a vital role in shaping the voice and visibility of the NAWIC Tampa Chapter. Through strategic communication, branding, and outreach, this committee ensures that our mission, events, and initiatives are effectively shared with both our members and the broader community.

Our work includes promoting chapter events, managing social media and digital content, designing marketing materials, and fostering relationships with media and industry partners. By amplifying our presence, we help attract new members, engage existing ones, and build lasting connections that support women in construction.

Strong PR and marketing efforts are essential to the success of our chapter. They not only highlight the incredible work our members are doing but also reinforce NAWIC’s commitment to diversity, education, and professional growth within the industry.

Fundraising Committee

The NAWIC Fundraising Committee is responsible for generating financial support for the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and its initiatives. This committee organizes various fundraising events, campaigns, and activities aimed at fostering community engagement and raising awareness about the importance of women in the construction industry. By developing creative strategies and partnerships, the committee seeks to secure resources that will enhance NAWIC's programs, scholarships, and educational opportunities, ultimately empowering women and promoting gender diversity within the construction workforce.

NEF Block Kids Committee 

Block Kids introduces elementary school-aged children to the fundamentals of construction through creative building projects using blocks, encouraging teamwork and problem-solving. This initiative aims to spark interest in construction careers among girls and young children, promoting inclusivity and diversity in the industry for future generations. The Tampa Chapter hosts an event every year to engage the community and keep kids engaged in the construction industry.  

NEF Liason

The NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF) Committee is a cornerstone of our chapter’s commitment to education, certification, and professional development within the construction industry. Led by a dedicated Chair, this committee works to promote and support NEF’s mission of providing educational opportunities that enhance career growth and industry knowledge for both NAWIC members and the broader construction community.

The NEF Committee is responsible for:

  • Promoting NEF Certification Programs such as the Construction Industry Technician (CIT), Construction Document Technician (CDT), and other nationally recognized credentials.
  • Encouraging participation in NEF courses and exams to help members advance their careers and demonstrate their expertise.
  • Supporting educational outreach to students and professionals, including scholarship opportunities and awareness of construction-related careers.
  • Collaborating with other committees to integrate NEF resources into chapter events and initiatives.

The role of the NEF Chair is vital in coordinating these efforts, serving as a liaison between our chapter and the national foundation, and ensuring members have access to the tools and support they need to succeed.

By investing in education and certification, the NEF Committee helps strengthen the future of construction—one member, one credential, and one opportunity at a time.

Annual Clay Shoot Fundraiser Committee

The NAWIC Tampa Chapter proudly hosts its Annual Clay Shoot Fundraiser, a signature event that brings together industry professionals, community partners, and supporters for a day of camaraderie, competition, and purpose.

Held each year in support of our chapter’s mission, the clay shoot is more than just a sporting event—it’s a vital fundraiser that helps us advance women in construction through education, networking, and outreach. Proceeds from the event directly support scholarships, professional development programs, and local initiatives that empower women to thrive in the construction industry.

Participants enjoy a fun and engaging experience, whether seasoned shooters or first-timers, with opportunities to connect, collaborate, and celebrate the strength of our community. The event also serves as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of diversity and inclusion in construction, while fostering meaningful relationships across the industry.

Women in Construction (WIC) Week Committee

The WIC Week Committee is dedicated to promoting and celebrating Women in Construction (WIC) during National Women in Construction Week, an initiative aimed at highlighting the contributions of women in the construction industry. This committee organizes events and activities that raise awareness of the diverse roles women play in construction, encourages communities to support gender diversity in the field, and inspires the next generation of female leaders. Through various outreach efforts, sponsorships, and partnerships, the committee strives to create a positive impact on the industry's perception and encourages women to pursue careers in construction.

Girls Construction Camp Committee

The Girls Construction Camp and Block Kids Committee is dedicated to inspiring and educating young girls about careers in the construction industry through hands-on experiences and engaging activities. The Girls Construction Camp provides participants with the opportunity to learn basic construction skills, explore various trade disciplines, and foster confidence in their abilities. Similarly, the Block Kids program introduces elementary school-aged children to the fundamentals of construction through creative building projects using blocks, encouraging teamwork and problem-solving.
