February 2026/March 2026
President's Report
To our NAWIC Tampa Members and Friends,
February was an extraordinary month for our chapter, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share just how much we accomplished together. The energy, growth, and engagement we experienced over the past several weeks truly reflect the strength of our NAWIC Tampa community.
Our February membership meeting was the most attended meeting in recent chapter history, and the excitement in the room was undeniable. Seeing so many members, guests, and new faces come together reminded me of the power of our mission and the importance of the work we do. Your participation and enthusiasm continue to elevate our chapter and inspire our leadership team.
One of the highlights of the month was the return of Block Kids, a program we were thrilled to re‑introduce after several years. Thanks to the generous support of Schaefer General Contracting, we welcomed young girls into a hands‑on, creativity‑driven experience that introduced them to the world of construction. Watching their ideas come to life and seeing their confidence grow reaffirmed why this program is so important. Block Kids helps young women imagine themselves as builders, engineers, and leaders—and we are proud to once again offer this opportunity to our community.
Our chapter also had a strong presence at the Build Expo, where we connected with numerous industry professionals and partners. One of the most eye‑opening takeaways from the event was realizing just how many people still do not know about NAWIC. This is a reminder that each of us plays a vital role in spreading the word. I encourage you to share our mission with your coworkers, invite friends to meetings, and help us expand our reach. Awareness is the first step to growth, and your voice makes a difference.
Speaking of growth, our membership continues to rise, bringing in new women who are eager to learn, connect, and contribute. This momentum is a direct reflection of the hard work of our committees and the welcoming spirit of our members. I am incredibly proud of the strides we are making and excited to see our chapter continue to flourish.
I want to extend my deepest appreciation to our board and committee members. Your dedication, creativity, and countless hours of behind‑the‑scenes work are the backbone of our chapter. Every event, initiative, and new member experience is shaped by your commitment, and I am sincerely grateful for all you do.
As we look ahead, we are actively seeking a Marketing Chair to help us strengthen our communication and visibility. We are also looking for speakers for upcoming meetings who can bring valuable insights and inspiration to our membership. If you or someone you know is interested, we would love to hear from you.
We are now preparing for Women in Construction (WIC) Week next week, the biggest and most celebrated week of our year. This is our opportunity to highlight the contributions of women in our industry and celebrate the work we do every day. I encourage every member to participate and help us make this year’s WIC Week unforgettable.
Shortly after WIC Week, we will host our annual Clay Shoot Fundraiser, another major event that brings together members, partners, and supporters for a day of fun, networking, and fundraising. Teams can now sign up, and we are actively seeking sponsors to help make this event a success. Your involvement directly supports our chapter’s ability to provide programming, outreach, and scholarships throughout the year.
To each of you: Thank you for your continued support, your passion, and your commitment to advancing women in construction. Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive industry—one month, one event, and one connection at a time.
Warm regards,
Crystal Wierzba
President, NAWIC Tampa Chapter
